Qidian, Sogou Form Strategic Partnership

A partnership between Shanda Interactive's (Nasdaq: SNDA) online literature site Qidian.com and Chinese internet firm Sohu's (Nasdaq: SOHU) online search subsidiary Sogou now allows users of special releases of either Sogou's Chinese Pinyin input method editor (IME) or browser products to access Qidian.com and its content with just one click.

In addition to its current IME product, Sogou plans to release a Flash-based IME which also comes integrated with Qidian.com, but with the added feature of displaying through the IME skin continually updated bestseller rankings and recommended selections from among Qidian's more than 600,000 novels and other titles. With the Flash version of Sogou's IME, users who click on featured links will be directed to the appropriate online address.

A Qidian spokesperson has said that once the Qidian version of the Sogou browser has been downloaded and installed, users will be able to browse Qidian.com directly from within the browser. Plans also exist to gradually integrate Qidian reading apps with Sogou's open platform.
