Tencent Tests QQ Circles Feature

Chinese internet giant Tencent (0700.HK) recently began testing its new QQ Circles feature, which allows instant messaging users to find one another even if they are not currently in one another's QQ contacts. For example, a female friend's ex-boyfriend would be added to a "circle" due to his connection to the woman in question. QQ Circles will automatically sort friends into different circles based on their real-life relationships. Tencent originally aimed to offer slots in the first round of trials until April 11, but reached its quota limit of 600,000 participants within the first week. Tencent subsequently announced that not too long from now, it will open the platform for a second batch of trial participants.
