SMIC to Collaborate with IBM on 28nm Technology

Chinese semiconductor foundry Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) (NYSE: SMI, 0981.HK) and IBM have signed a collaboration agreement by which the two parties will exchange certain technical information, followed by a collaboration on elements of industry compatible 28nm technology.
The collaboration is intended to help SMIC lower the development risks and time cycles of 28 nm technology development. SMIC has confirmed that the collaboration will have no material adverse financial impact.
