Rumor: 360Buy to Outsource Group Buy Business

Sina Tech, 4/19/12

An industry source reported today that Beijing-based B2C e-commerce platform 360Buy plans to outsource its group buy business. The company has reportedly approached Chinese group buying sites 55Tuan and Lashou, among others, to discuss outsourcing, but no agreement has yet been reached.

360Buy will reportedly make changes to its group buy service that will include retaining only a portion of its group buy services for physical items and outsourcing its local and lifestyle group buy services.

Editor's Note: Earlier this month, Chinese online classifieds platform operator Ganji made a similar move to outsource its group buy operations. For more background on this topic, please see "Ganji, 55Tuan Partner on Group Buy Business," MD 4/12/12 issue.
