Beijing Mobile to Provide Wi-Fi on Buses

Beijing Times, 4/20/12

Beijing Mobile announced yesterday that it had signed an agreement with Beijing Public Transport Holdings (BPT) to develop wireless network service systems for public buses, enabling passengers to use their Wi-Fi-enabled terminals (including mobile phones, notebook computers, and tablets) to connect to China Mobile's (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) WLAN network service. Beijing Mobile and BPT will initially roll the service out on bus routes circumnavigating Beijing's second ring road. Prices for the WLAN service have not yet been announced. Beijing Mobile says that in the future it will continue to upgrade bus Wi-Fi access speeds using 4G and other technologies.
