MIIT Introduces Smart Cloud TV Industry Standard 2.0

Southern Metropolitan News, 5/15/12

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), in cooperation with TCL Corporation (000100.SZ) and several other manufacturers, today announced China's Smart Cloud TV Industry Standard 2.0 in Beijing. The new industry standard, in addition to introducing an "intelligence" evaluation standard for flat-panel TV sets, also sets requirements for smart cloud operating systems designed specifically for TV sets; hardware standards require smart cloud TV sets to have a dual-core CPU, dual-core GPU, 512KB cache, at least 8GB of internal storage, and support 100GB or more external storage.

Editor's Note: The flat-panel TV intelligence evaluations will give star-based ratings based on rigorous tests of informatization equipment, ease of use, artificial intelligence, expert systems and other criteria.
