Donews, 5/31/12

The People's Bank of China (PboC) may issue a fourth batch of nearly 100 third-party payment licenses next month, according to an industry source.

The PboC has received license applications from 256 companies, 101 of which were approved in the third-round of licensing.

According to an industry insider, a tentative list of fourth-round awardees has been drafted and only awaits final approval. "Many applicants this round are regional third-party payment providers."
