Ex-Google Executive Joins Grand Cloud as CEO

Chinese online media and game operator Shanda Interactive's cloud computing products website, Grand Cloud, has announced that it has appointed former Google cloud computing technology executive Kelvin Liu (Liu Wenbo) as CEO. Under Liu, Grand Cloud will continue to improve its public cloud platform while strengthening ties to other Shanda subsidiaries to integrate its cloud platform with all Shanda's services.

Liu graduated from Tsinghua University's computer science department and received a PhD in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. After working as an engineer and project manager for several companies, including Autodesk, Informix, Microsoft, and Ask.com, Liu joined Google, where he oversaw the establishment of Google's Beijing office, the creation of Google's China data center software architecture, and the development and operations of Google.cn, as well as development of major products such as Google+ and Google Checkout.
