ZTE Denies Winning China Mobile 4G Handset Tender

Sina Tech, 9/10/12

Qin Yina, spokesperson for Chinese telecom equipment and terminal manufacturer ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ), today denied that ZTE had won a bid from China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) for 4G smartphone orders. Qin stated that reports of ZTE's winning bid were false, but declined to comment any further at the request of China Mobile.

Hong Kong-based newspaper Apple Daily reported today that ZTE, Huawei, and China Wireless Technologies (2369.HK) had all won tenders for 4G smartphone orders from China Mobile. A China mobile spokesman had no comment on the matter.

ZTE launched the 4G Grand X LTE (T82) in Hong Kong last month with China Mobile Hong Kong.
