Rumor: Baidu Chief Scientist Resigns

Tencent Tech, 9/12/12

A number of industry sources revealed today that Chinese internet company Baidu's (Nasdaq: BIDU) chief scientist, William I. Chang, recently departed the company. Baidu declined to comment on the rumor when contacted by Tencent Tech, but an informed source said Chang had not been seen at Baidu for some time, and had long-since left the company.

Chang graduated from Harvard University with an undergraduate degree in mathematics, and received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining Baidu, he served as CTO of Infoseek, where he developed the company's natural-language search engine, and founded Affini, Inc.
