Rumor: Tencent, Giant in Talks to Jointly Operate MMORPG

According to a knowledgeable source, Tencent (0700.HK) and Chinese online game developer and operator Giant Interactive (NYSE: GA) are in talks to jointly operate Giant-developed 3D fantasy MMORPG World of XianXia. Industry insiders have suggested that Tencent is hoping to increase its presence in the MMO market to widen the company's advantage over its competitors.
It is also rumored that Chinese Internet services and security software provider Qihoo 360 (NYSE: QIHU) is in talks with Giant to operate the game. Neither Qihoo 360 nor Giant confirmed the story.
