Rumor: Ex-Merrill Lynch MD to Join Shanda as President

An industry source revealed recently that Robert Chiu, former managing director of Bank of America-Merrill Lynch, will join Chinese online media provider and online game developer and operator Shanda Group as president.
An MBA graduate of Northwestern University in the US, Chiu worked at Merrill Lynch from 2004 to 2009, specializing in the areas of high-tech, media, and telecom before moving to the investment wing of the bank. Chiu joined Nomura Holdings as global co-head of technology, media, and telecommunications investment banking in 2009, before re-joining Merrill Lunch in March 2010. Chiu has taken part in a number of China TMT industry mergers and acquisitions.
As of press time, Shanda had not responded to requests for comment.
