RDA Microelectronics Q3 2012 Profit Down 14% YoY

Chinese wireless baseband chipset provider RDA Microelectronics (Nasdaq: RDA) has announced its financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2012. Q3 2012 revenue was USD 109.3 mln, up 15.8% QoQ and up 30.2% YoY.

Q3 2012 net income was USD 13.5 mln, up 10.7% QoQ from USD 12.2 mln in Q2 2012 and down 14.0% YoY from USD 15.7 mln in Q3 2011.

Baseband shipments, a new business line for the company, reached 10 mln units per month beginning in August due to strong adoption in the GSM feature phone market. The newly low-cost RDA8851 chipset reached 1 mln units shipped in the quarter.

RDA expects revenue for the fourth quarter of 2012 to be in the range of USD 100 mln to USD 110 mln.
