Google Services Blocked in China

Google, 11/09/12

US search giant Google has reported that the company has seen unstable access to many of its services in China during the past week. Marbridge has received reports from users in various parts of China that Google's email and search features have been virtually inaccessible for nearly a week. Access to other Google features, such as the company's cloud storage and new reader features, have also been reported as heavily circumscribed. According to Google, the company saw its China traffic drop to unusual lows on Friday, November 9, only to later rebound over the weekend. Google services remain difficult to access within mainland China.

Editor's Note: A number of overseas-hosted sites, including The New York Times and Bloomberg, have been inaccessible from Mainland China over the last several weeks. Controls on China's internet are expected to remain tight for several more weeks until comfortably after the conclusion of China's 18th National Party Congress.
