Alipay Transaction Volume Hits RMB 19 Bln on Singles Day

Chinese third-party payment processor Alipay processed RMB 19.1 bln in payments for sister sites TMall and Taobao's November 11 "Singles' Day" sales. RMB 13.2 bln of this was for purchases on B2C e-commerce site TMall, while the remaining RMB 5.9 bln was for purchases on Taobao. TMall's sales Singles Day sales performance this year increased by 292% over the November 11, 2011 figure, and Taobao's rose by 204%. Alipay processed 105.8 mln payment transactions during the sale, 8% of which were made wirelessly.
