China Telecom Narrows Gap with Unicom in iPhone 4S Sales

China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) has closed the gap in iPhone 4S sales with China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) to 3:5, according to Sino-MR. In Beijing alone, China Telecom has sold over 100,000 units, reaching 57% of China Unicom's total sales.

In August, domestic iPhone shipments reached 696,000, with iPhone 4S accounting for 74% with 515,000, while the iPhone 4 accounted for 26% with 181,000. The WCDMA version accounted for 319,000 of iPhone 4S shipped, while the CDMA version accounted for 196,000, accounting for 45.8 percentage points and 28.2 percentage points of total domestic iPhone shipments respectively.
