Huawei, America Movil Launch Commercial LTE Network in Mexico

Chinese telecom equipment and terminal manufacturer Huawei announced today that it had partnered with Telcel, the largest subsidiary of Latin American wireless services provider America Movil (AM), to launch Mexico's first commercial LTE network.

The LTE network will cover nine cities with plans to reach 65% of Mexico's population by Q1 of next year. AM's subsidiary Telcel has a nearly 70% market share of the Mexican mobile market with nearly 70 mln subscribers. The company has partnered with Huawei's SingleRAN LTE solution to build a Heterogenous Network (HetNet) which will enhance customer experience by providing convenient access to HD video calls, speedy web browsing, online gaming, photo sharing and technical support.
