Jiayuan Q3 2012 Profit Down 36% YoY

Beijing-based online matchmaking site operator Jiayuan.com (Nasdaq: DATE) has announced its financial results for the three months ended September 30, 2012. Q3 2012 net revenues were RMB 113.5 mln (USD 18.1 mln), representing a YoY increase of 24.8% and a QoQ increase of 14.2% from RMB 99.4 mln.
Net income for the third quarter of 2012 was RMB 15.9 mln (USD 2.5 mln), representing a decrease of 35.9% YoY from RMB 24.9 mln and a decrease of 22.4% QoQ from RMB 20.5 mln for the second quarter of 2012.
Online services contributed RMB 101.1 mln (USD 16.1 mln), or 89.1% of net revenues for the third quarter of 2012, representing a YoY increase of 33.1% from RMB 76.0 mln, and a 17.6% sequential increase from RMB 86.0 mln for the previous quarter. The YoY and QoQ increase was primarily attributable to improved ARPU.
Events and VIP services contributed RMB 12.1 mln (USD 1.9 mln), or 10.6% of net revenues for the third quarter of 2012, representing a YoY decrease of 11.6% from RMB 13.7 mln, and a slight sequential decrease from RMB 12.8 mln for the previous quarter due to lower offline events attendance during the Olympics.
The number of registered user accounts as of September 30, 2012 was 73,196,570, with approximately 5.5 mln new users acquired during the quarter.
The number of average monthly active user accounts for the third quarter of 2012 was 5,242,237, as compared to 5,560,387 for the corresponding period of 2011 and 5,333,341 for the previous quarter.
The number of average monthly paying user accounts for the third quarter 2012 was 1,272,185, as compared to 1,250,439 for the corresponding period of 2011 and an increase of 4.0% from 1,222,880 for the previous quarter.
Average monthly revenue per paying user (ARPU) for online services for the third quarter 2012 was RMB 26.5, as compared to RMB 20.2 for the corresponding period in 2011 and RMB 23.4 for the previous quarter.
Jiayuan currently expects to generate net revenues in the range of RMB 106 mln to RMB 108 mln for the fourth quarter of 2012.
