Chinese Panel Makers Lobbying for Higher Import Tariffs

DoNews, 11/22/12

Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer TCL Corporation (000100.SZ) has disclosed that China's domestic panel industry is currently lobbying for another increase in panel import tariffs, and expects duties to be raised next year. Panel import tariffs are currently 5%, but tariffs on panels 32 inches or larger may increase to between 8%-12%.

LG Display (LGD) has revealed that its 8.5 generation LCD panel production line in Guangzhou will reach full production in 2014, with manufacturing focused on large-scale panels.
