Baidu Establishes Second Beijing SEM Center, SME Training Center

Tencent Tech, 11/29/12

Chinese internet company Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has opened a second search engine marketing (SEM) center today in the Taikang Financial Building in Beijing's central business district. The company also unveiled its new Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) Online Training Base under the joint guidance of Beijing's Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology (CEIT) and the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC).

The SME Online Training Base is a part of the "Qingyun Plan" ("New Heights Plan") program kicked off in April by Baidu, the Beijing CEIT, and the Beijing SAIC. The program is designed to help Chinese SMEs enter the online advertising market. Baidu has invested RMB 50 mln in operating capital and advertising rebates as a part of the program. The "Qingyun Plan" estimates that it will hold several dozen SME online advertising training sessions by the end of the year.
