Shanghai Mobile to Offer Wi-Fi Service on Public Buses

Shanghai Ba-shi Public Transportation and China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) subsidiary Shanghai Mobile recently signed a cooperation agreement in which Shanghai Mobile will construct GSM,TD-SCDMA,TD-LTE and WLAN broadband networks along Shanghai Ba-Shi Public Transportation's bus routes, providing wireless internet access services to Shanghai's public transportation passengers.

Currently, 4G compatibility trials have already begun on bus routes 926 and 49, with free Wi-Fi access being made available during the duration of the trial phase. Shanghai Ba-Shi Public Transportation has stated that all of its 578 bus routes will be equipped with broadband Wi-Fi access by next year. Shanghai residents will also be able to download a mobile client to check bus arrival times.
