NavInfo Share of China's Q3 2012 Mobile Map Source Market Reaches 52%

The cumulative user account base (including mobile map and mobile navigation applications) of China's mobile internet map data market reached 428.45 mln in Q3 2012, up 28.0% QoQ, according to Chinese market research firm Analysys.

In Q3 2012, Beijing-based GPS navigation map supplier NavInfo (002405.SZ) led China's mobile map data market by user accounts with a 52.2% market share, while AutoNavi (Nasdaq: AMAP) and Careland Computing captured shares of 34.1% and 4.8%, respectively.
Google Maps lost market share in the quarter, which caused AutoNavi's mobile map data market share to fall to 34.1% from 39.0% in the previous quarter. Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) Maps, Tiger Map, and Mapbar Map continued to maintain growth in the quarter, and Sohu's (Nasdaq: SOHU) Sogou Maps, a new player in the mobile map market, recorded rapid growth, which caused NavInfo's share of the mobile map data market to reach 52.2% in Q3 2012, up from 43.6% in the previous quarter.
