Kaixin001 Adds IM to iPhone Client

Chinese social networking site Kaixin001 recently released an updated version of its iPhone mobile client with new instant messaging capabilities. Kaixin001 VP Guo Wei said the new mobile application adds a variety of interactive features, allows users to personalize their profile by changing their profile page theme or profile photo, and incorporates group chat.

When asked about whether Kaixin001 plans to offer voice or video-based social networking features, Guo said the company has not ruled out any possibilities and aims to provide relevant products at the appropriate time. Guo disclosed that Kaixin001 will soon release a new product that has voice-related features.

Kaixin001 currently has over 140 mln registered users, and continues to add more, despite a gradual decrease in the rate of new registrations, said Guo, who added that overall the company has been developing steadily. Guo declined to comment on Kaixin's future funding and IPO plans.
