Alipay Releases 2D Bar Code Payment Service

Chinese third-party payment processor Alipay has announced the release of its new personalized 2D barcode payment feature. In order to make payments through the new feature, Alipay users need only to scan an Alipay 2D barcode with the Alipay mobile client. Upon scanning, users will be prompted to make a payment to the Alipay account associated with the 2D barcode.

Sellers using Alipay can log in to the official Alipay website to create their own "Pay Me" 2D barcode. In order to add a level of customization, Alipay allows sellers to link a personalized photo to their 2D barcode that will appear on customer handsets when a 2D barcode is scanned.

Alipay sellers will receive text message and in app notifications from Alipay when they receive 2D barcode payments from customers.
