Yikuaiqu Launches Tourism Booking Service on WeChat

36Kr, 12/05/12

Chinese augmented reality tour guide mobile app developer Yikuaiqu.net recently launched a new "Destinations Discounts" service on Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat (Weixin) mobile messaging application. By sending their current location or the name of a scenic destination, users can receive a listing of discounts for nearby attractions. Users can directly make reservations by sending their name and mobile number via WeChat and complete payment via an SMS verification code.

The service currently offers more than 7,000 tourism products for over 3,000 destinations. Yikuaiqu receives a commission from vendors on all bookings made via WeChat.

Liu Peng, manager of the new product, said that the WeChat service embeds an HTML5 webpage identical to Yikuaiqu's "AR Dao Lan" Android mobile application, and modifications have been made to the back end to allow synchronized updates to both platforms.
