AutoNavi, Sina Weibo Partner on Social Mapping Platform

Chinese digital map provider AutoNavi (Nasdaq: AMAP) and Sina's (Nasdaq: SINA) Weibo microblogging platform today announced a strategic partnership in Beijing. The two companies will cooperate in various areas including products, data, cloud platforms, and APIs, and jointly establish a social mapping platform. AutoNavi also released a new version of its AutoNavi Maps mobile mapping application.

In addition to allowing users to browse and conduct location-based searches for Weibo text and image content, the new version of AutoNavi Maps also adds "Where They've Been" and "Popular Spots" features, providing additional sharing and interactivity capabilities. AutoNavi Maps' Point of Interest (POI) listings also simultaneously display relevant Weibo posts and comments.

AutoNavi Maps has over 90 mln users, growing by approximately 6 mln each month.
