China's 2013 Flat-screen TV Set Sales to Rise Nearly 7% YoY

China's flat-screen TV set sales are expected to grow 6.7% YoY to reach 45 mln units in 2013, according to the deputy secretary of China Electronics Chamber of Commerce (CECC) Lu Renbo. Based on data from CECC, China's flat-panel TV sales are estimated to reach 42 mln units in 2012. Chinese brands such as Skyworth Digital Holdings (0751.HK), TCL Multimedia (1070.HK), Changhong (600839.SH), and Konka (200016.SZ, 000016.SZ) saw rapid growth, together accounting for more than 70% of the market.

Sales of flat-screen TVs in third- and fourth-tier cities have surpassed those in first- and second-tier cities in the last three years, and third- and fourth-tier cities are expected to account for 55% of the market in 2013. Large-screen TVs will drive sales in 2013, with more than 56% of consumer demand being for models 46-inches and up.
