Gome.com to Introduce Childcare Channel in Jan 2013

Chinese home appliance and consumer electronics retailer Gome's (0493.HK) e-commerce platform Gome.com.cn today announced a strategic partnership with Beijing-based maternity and childcare retail chain Qinqin Baby Technology Management to launch a childcare products channel on January 14, and plans to invest RMB 1 bln in childcare B2C e-commerce with the goal of ranking third in the space in 2013. Mou Guixian, Gome senior VP and Gome.com.cn chairman, also disclosed that Gome.com.cn plans to add a new product category each month.
Gome.com.cn VP Zhang Bing said that in addition to product sales, the childcare channel will serve as a one-stop childcare e-commerce destination featuring social interactivity, consultation, education, marketing and other services. Zhang added that the channel will launch several projects including "Mothers' Group," "Childcare Lectures," and "Helping Mom" in H1 2013, as well as providing rankings of postpartum nursing services, reservation services for women's hospitals, and partnerships with early childhood education centers.
Qinqin is a childcare retail chain established in 2003.
