360Buy Establishes Cloud Computing R&D Base in Beijing

Tencent Tech, 1/16/13

Beijing-based B2C e-commerce platform 360Buy held the opening ceremony for its new cloud computing R&D base today in Beijing's Haidian district.

The new base and accompanying "e-commerce laboratory" cover an area of 9,940 square meters and will house 1,500 360Buy employees. The cloud computing base will provide strategic support for 360Buy's cloud hosted e-commerce operations, while the "e-commerce laboratory," a partnership between 360Buy and China's Renmin University, will work with Renmin University researchers to conduct R&D in the e-commerce cloud field.

360Buy hopes to leverage its new base to analyze the large amount of user and other data it has gathered. The company currently collects logistics, warehousing, delivery, reverse-logistics and other data on more than 80 mln users and nearly 10 mln products
