Chinese internet company Sina (Nasdaq: SINA) has launched a new "promoted feeds" system on the company's Sina Weibo microblogging platform. As a part of the new system, Sina will place paid ads in user microblog newsfeeds. The ads currently appear in the PC version of Sina Weibo but not the mobile version.
Promoted fees are distinguished by grey text marking them as "Weibo Ads" near the top and bottom of the ad, and are separated from natural newsfeed content by a small line.
