360Buy to Foster Development of "Born on 360Buy" Brands

Ebrun, 2/20/13

According to an industry source, Beijing-based B2C e-commerce platform 360Buy will introduce a major new strategy this year: special development support for merchants that sell only on 360Buy's platform. Such merchants would be known as "Jing brands" (from 360Buy's Chinese name "Jingdong Shangcheng"), much as brands that have grown to fame on Taobao are referred to as "Tao brands." With respect to the new strategy, 360Buy states it welcomes qualified third-party sellers to open their business on the company's open platform POP (Plan of Open Platform), with 360Buy to provide services and financial assistance to help such businesses grow. 360Buy will treat all merchants on its open platform fairly, but for manufacturers or brands that carry products of good quality and that have strong market potential, 360Buy will also consider offering various additional kinds of business support. Presently, the criteria and implementation method for this strategy is still under consideration.
