WeChat Boasts 30-person Voice Recognition Development Team

Allen Zhang, a VP at Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK) responsible for the company's WeChat (Weixin) mobile messaging application, has announced that the company's WeChat team has reached 200 people, 30 of whom are developing voice recognition technology. The recently released version 4.5 of the WeChat mobile client added a number of voice recognition features, including voice reminders. According to Zhang, the voice-recognition technology used in the WeChat mobile client is all self-developed.
