Tencent to Improve Monetization for App Developer Partners

Tencent Tech, 3/07/13

Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent's (0700.HK) open app development platform has launched a new "Liftoff" ("Tengfei") campaign geared at increasing revenue for social gaming and non-gaming app developers.

According to a "Liftoff" team member, the "Liftoff" campaign looks to improve the ad delivery system for Tencent's partner app developers. As long as partner developers provide ad space in their apps, Tencent promises to fill the space with an ad from one of its partner advertisers. Tencent will not charge a revenue sharing fee for ads placed in the first half of 2013.

According to the company, a number of Tencent open platform apps have already reached a daily active user (DAU) base of 100,000 and monthly revenue of RMB 50,000. Through better ad placement, the "Liftoff" campaign projects that it can bring developers monthly revenue of RMB 100,000 from 100,000 daily active users.
