Rumor: Tencent, Alibaba in Talks to Acquire Jiayuan

According to industry sources, Chinese internet and mobile services firm Tencent (0700.HK) and e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group have both expressed interest in acquiring Beijing-based online matchmaking site operator Jiayuan.com (Nasdaq: DATE). Jiayuan VP Zhou Zhongxiao has denied the rumors, stating that the company will not undergo any financial changes in the near future.

Jiayuan's share price increased by 22.56% on July 17.
