Rumor: Nut Shell to Release Intel-Core Gaming Handset

Sohu IT, 7/19/13

Chinese tech columnist Liu Xingliang has stated on his personal microblogging account that e-book and handset manufacturer Nut Shell Electronics will release a mobile gaming smartphone powered with an Intel Core processor in 2014. Liu went on to state that Nut Shell has completed the design of the handset and that Intel sent a representative to the company yesterday to discuss which processor the handset will use.

According to Liu, Intel has promised Nut Shell RMB 50 mln to assist with promotion of the handset, and the handset's spokesperson could possibly be a Hollywood celebrity.

Nut Shell has responded to the rumors, stating that Intel will provide a portion of the funds for marketing the phone, but did not reveal how much Intel would contribute, stating only that the RMB 50 mln figure was inaccurate. Nut Shell added that the company is currently in contact with Angelina Jolie about a spokesperson deal, but that no final decision has been made.
