Haier to Release Alibaba OS Smart TV

Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Haier recently confirmed that the company will release a smart TV installed with e-commerce conglomerate Alibaba Group's new smart TV/STB operating system. The system allows users to shop online via the smart TV by logging in to a user account on Alibaba's e-commerce site Taobao or third-party payment platform Alipay. Users can also pay utility bills using Alipay on their smart TVs.

Other consumer electronics manufacturers, including Skyworth Digital Holdings (0751.HK) and Konka (200016.SZ, 000016.SZ), will also release smart TVs that feature Alibaba's smart TV/STB OS in the near future.
