Ex-Netease COO Startup Wins Near RMB 100 mln in Funding

Guangzhou-based online game developer and operator Ejoy Information Technology, which was founded by Zhan Zhonghui, former co-COO of internet company Netease (Nasdaq: NTES), has announced that the company has landed nearly RMB 100 mln in first-round funding led by IDG Capital Partners.
The funding will be primarily used for the development of an upcoming 3D MMORPG. Ejoy has spent approximately RMB 5 mln to acquire the game adaptation rights for fantasy novel Douluo Dalu. Although Ejoy's team is most experienced in client-based game development, the company also plans to enter into the mobile gaming market. In the short-term, the company will concentrate its resources on development of a Douluo Dalu-based game.
