China's State Council Pushes for National Cable TV Operator

Sina Tech, 8/21/13

China's State Council has released broadcast industry development goals calling for an acceleration in the formation of China Radio and Television Network, China's planned national cable TV operator. The State Council also spurred network operators to continue carrying out comprehensive three-network convergence, and to speed up the pace of integration between China's telecom and cable networks, and gradually expand network convergence beyond trial locations to the entire country in the second half of 2013.

The push is part of an effort to promote interconnectivity and cooperative development of infrastructure between telecommunication and cable TV networks.
