Xiaomi MIUI Store to Remove Qihoo 360 Apps

Sohu IT, 9/27/13

Beijing-based Android handset developer Xiaomi has released a statement claiming that Chinese internet services and security software provider Qihoo 360's (NYSE: QIHU) "360 Mobile Assistant" handset manager app has been prompting users to uninstall Xiaomi's MIUI app store client without reason. The app also recommends for users to uninstall internet company Baidu's (Nasdaq: BIDU) online mapping service Baidu Maps. In response, Xiaomi has decided to remove all Qihoo 360 products from its MIUI app store and perform security testing on Qihoo 360 apps.

Editor's Note: Baidu has announced that it has filed suit against Qihoo 360 regarding the matter. For more background on this topic, please see "Xiaomi Drops Qihoo 360 Mobile Safe App from MIUI Store" MD 4/30/13 issue.
