Rumor: ZTE9 to Release 'Fun Box' Game Console

According to an industry insider, ZTE9, a JV between Shanghai-based online game developer and operator The9 (Nasdaq: NCTY) and telecom equipment and terminal manufacturer ZTE (0763.HK; 000063.SZ), will release a gaming console this month called the "Fun Box."

The Fun Box comes equipped with an NVIDIA Tegra 4 processor and 2GB RAM+8GB ROM. The cube-shaped device features USB and Micro USB ports, as well as dual-channel, dual antenna Wi-Fi, and comes in 12 colors.

Users will be able to stream HD online video content through the Fun Box, as well as video from connected USB devices. The console also uses Bluetooth-enabled game controllers. ZTE9 is currently in talks with domestic and overseas games developers regarding the release of customized games for the console.
