China Bans Ride-sharing Apps, Allows High-end Car Hire Services

Zgjtb.com, 1/08/15

Addressing the explosion of high-end car hire and ride sharing apps in China, China's Ministry of Transport (MOT) has stated that hailing high-end and professional drivers through mobile apps in China is legal and useful to the diversification of the country's transportation market. In the same statement, the MOC declared that ride sharing apps, through which unlicensed drivers provide taxi services to passengers through a mobile platform, is outlawed in China, and unlicensed drivers must not provide taxi services in China.
