Bullet-screen Video Site AcFun Requires Real-name Authentication for Uploaders

Sina Tech, 8/03/17

Guangzhou-based Danmu Network Technology, operator of bullet-screen video side AcFun, recently announced that in response to national regulatory requirements, it will require real-name authentication from users who upload content to the site, including both video and written content.

AcFun said that users can authenticate by linking their account to a Chinese mobile phone number. A single phone number can only be linked to one account. Beginning September 27, 2017, users who have not undergone real name registration will be prohibited from uploading and editing content.
