Segway & Ninebot Launches New Models of Electric Scooter, Self-balancing Unicycle

Tianjin-based personal transportation device brand Segway & Ninebot has announced the launch of an electric scooter and a "Ninebot One Z" series of self-balancing unicycles.
The foldable electric scooter is available in standard and sports editions, and can travel up to 25 km on a charge. The RMB 1,799 standard edition uses a 500 Watt motor capable of reaching a top speed of 20 km/hour. The RMB 2,499 sports edition adds shock absorbers and uses a 700 Watt motor that can travel up to 25 km/hour. Both models offer an extended battery for an additional RMB 799.
Ninebot's mobile app can be used to control the electric scooter, including setting a traveling speed, displaying vehicle information, locking the board, and adjusting the speed. The standard edition is currently accepting pre-orders through Segway's flagship store on Chinese B2C e-commerce platform JD.com (Nasdaq: JD).
The Ninebot One Z series of self-balancing unicycles has three versions costing RMB 4,999 for the Z6, RMB 7,999 for the Z8, and RMB 9,999 for the Z10. All are aimed at unicycle enthusiasts, and are equipped with an 18-inch diameter, 4.1-inch wide hollow tire. The unicycles include a lighting system and customizable sound effects.
The three models have different top speeds ranging from 35 to 45 km/hour. The top of the line Z10 has a 1,000 kWh battery and 1,800 Watt motor, can travel 80-100 km on a charge, and navigate inclines of up to 25 degrees.
