Baidu Testing In-app Applet Function

Techweb, 4/12/18

Chinese internet conglomerate Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) has quietly introduced an in-app applet for used car retail platform Uxin Used Car. Similar to the ecosystem of applets in rival Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app, users can scan a QR code with the Baidu mobile app to open the applet. Afterwards, users can access the applet under "commonly used services" in the toolbar and have an option to save to desktop.

Baidu applets are still in closed beta testing, limiting access to those with Baidu accounts and an invitation code. The function will gradually be opened up to companies and developers.
