Alibaba, Ant Financial to Help Transform Fuzhou into Model Digital City

Chinese internet conglomerate Alibaba Group (NYSE: BABA) and its financial services affiliate Ant Financial have formed a strategic partnership with the Fuzhou municipal government to turn Fuzhou into a "Digital China" model city. The three parties will work together in smart city infrastructure areas such as internet industry services, internet government services, and city brain and public credit systems.
Specifically, Alibaba Cloud's "ET City Brain" platform will be used to continue upgrading Fuzhou's municipal traffic management models. Alibaba Cloud and Fuzhou's Chang'le district will jointly build an "industrial internet" to promote the upgrade of the local manufacturing industry. Ant Financial will assist the Fuzhou government in optimizing its smart government affairs services. The two sides will promote the adoption of smartphone QR scan payments for public buses and subways using Ant Financial's e-payment platform Alipay, as well as for government services excluding tax revenue collection. They will also promote medical insurance mobile payments and the building of a "Credit Fuzhou" trust system.
