Shenzhen: Newly Registered Ride Hailing Vehicles Must Be All-electric

Securities Times, 6/07/18

The Shenzhen city government reportedly plans to revise its regulations for online ride hailing service operators before July 31, including prohibiting new registrations of non-all-electric vehicles with online ride hailing platforms. The city will also require approximately 7,500 standard fuel vehicles currently operating in the city to be replaced with battery electric vehicles (i.e. all-electric vehicles) by December 31, 2018, to convert essentially all of the city's taxi service vehicles to electric vehicles. By the end of the year, Shenzhen also plans to set up 5,200 new electric vehicle fast charging stations throughout the city and to set up more than 5,000 new charging stations in residential districts.
