JD.com Partners with Magplane to Develop Maglev Logistics Technology

Chinese B2C e-commerce platform JD.com (Nasdaq: JD) and US-based rail engineering firm Magplane Technology have signed a strategic partnership agreement to develop maglev and direct magnetic propulsion technology for warehousing and logistics and promote the application of the technology in smart logistics.

The two companies will jointly develop direct drive wheel track and magnetic levitation technology, according to JD.com, which plans to build a ground level and underground rail-based transportation network.
