Rumor: Baidu Shuts Down Online Education Platform Baidu Chuanke

36Kr.com, 7/31/18

Chinese internet conglomerate Baidu (Nasdaq: BIDU) will reportedly shut down its online education platform Baidu Chuanke, according to online media outlet 36Kr.com. Employees within Baidu's education business division were reportedly notified more than one week ago that the platform would be suspended. The 20-member Baidu Chuanke development team has reportedly already been disbanded and its members have been reassigned to other business divisions, and no new content has been posted to the Baidu Chuanke mobile app's updates channel since July 13.

Multiple Baidu Chuanke partners also confirmed that the platform will be shut down. One video content partner said that they received a message indicating that the product would undergo changes and that promotions would be pushed back.
