WeChat Increases Ad Revenue Share for Applet Developers

PingWest, 8/10/18

Chinese internet conglomerate Tencent's (0700.HK) WeChat mobile messaging app recently announced that its public account platform will adjust the share of advertising revenues awarded to applet developers, and that between August 1 and December 31, 2018, the share of ad revenues given to applet developers (including mini-game developers) will be increased. For applets with between RMB 100,000 and RMB 1 mln in daily ad revenues, the share of revenues assigned to developers will be increased from 30% to 50%.

In addition, WeChat said that applet back-end platform data analysis and plugin functions will be upgraded, and developers will be able to check the number of users that have added their applet to their "My applets" channel.
