China's Telcos Announce July 2018 Subscriber Totals

China's three main telecom operators have announced their subscriber totals for the month of July 2018, including a combined net addition of 11.95 mln mobile subscribers in China.
China Mobile (NYSE: CHL; 0941.HK) reported a net addition of 4.16 mln new mobile subscribers in July, pushing the telecom operator's total mobile user base to 909.97 mln. Of the total, 683.33 mln subscribers used its LTE networks during the month. China Mobile added 6.50 mln new LTE subs in July. China Mobile added 3.07 mln new fixed-line broadband subscribers (registered accounts) in July, increasing its total fixed-line broadband user base to 138.14 mln.
China Unicom (NYSE: CHU; 0762.HK; 600050.SH) reported a net addition of 2.51 mln mobile billing subscribers during the month of July, pushing the telecom operator's total mobile billing user base to 304.53 mln. Of the total, 206.77 mln were LTE subscribers, with a net addition of 3.66 mln LTE subs during the month. China Unicom lost 0.33 mln fixed-line telephone subscribers in July, dropping its total to 57.54 mln. The operator added 0.29 mln fixed-line broadband subscribers (registered accounts) in July, increasing its total to 79.21 mln.
China Telecom (NYSE: CHA; 0728.HK) saw a net increase of 5.28 mln mobile subscribers in July, raising its total to 286.9 mln, of which 222.66 mln were 4G terminal users, with a net increase of 5.35 mln 4G terminal users in July. China Telecom lost 0.35 mln fixed-line telephone subs in July, reducing its total to 119.15 mln. China Telecom gained 1.27 mln new fixed-line broadband subscribers (registered accounts) to reach 141.89 mln.
China Mobile's share of China's total mobile subscriber base as of the end of July 2018 decreased to 60.61%, compared to 60.82% at the end of June 2018. China Unicom's share remained unchanged from the end of June 2018 at 20.28%, while China Telecom's share grew to 19.11%, up from 18.91% at the end of June 2018.
